Ten Things From My Past Most Don’t Know About Me
OK, the first things that came to mind were bad things! Ok, maybe not that bad but I figure I should omit them anyways. So here are ten, not so bad things, in mostly chronological order.
#1. I played a lot of sports growing up, mostly baseball, basketball, football, and soccer in high school. Baseball was my passion! The Atlanta Braves, Dale Murphy and Hank Aaron were my hero’s! Oh, and Johnny Bench too of the big red machine, since I was catcher.
#2. During my illustrious basketball career when I was very young, I once scored the winning basket, unfortunately it was for the other team.
#3. I played the saxophone and later the trumpet, guitar and keyboards from the 5th grade through high school and played in the marching band as well. I still play the guitar and keyboards although I have become a little rusty at it in recent years.
#4. I’m a former Motocross champ, racing during my mid to late teenage years but had to give it up because of concussions. (Maybe that’s what’s wrong with me!)
#4. When I couldn’t motocross anymore I took up auto dirt track racing. I used to race at the same tracks Dale Earnhardt Sr did back in the late 70’s. Used to talk to him all the time! Little did I know then he would achieve what he did!
#5. Dale Earnhardt Sr is one of the most famous people I’ve ever met. Ironic at the time, we used to chat at the track just like you would with your neighbor.
#6. I’m a former diesel mechanic. I went to college for Business and while working my way through college I worked at a truck shop. The owners offered to put me through diesel school if I would make a 5 year commitment to them. I accepted and was out of there the last day of that 5 year commitment to start my real estate career.
#7. I bought my first house when I was 21 years old and wondered how I was going to make my $235 per month house payment, while working full time and going to school. BTW, the interest rate on that note was 18.5%!!
#8. I bought my second house a year later, next door to the first. I renovated and rented it out. Little did I know at the time what I was getting myself into for years to come! In a good way!
#9. Flip this house. I used to flip houses. After I got my real estate license, I quit doing so many as I found it much easier to make money selling without all the busted knuckles!
#10. The Good and Bad. I’ve been married 3 times and have raised 5 kids (all stepkids).. The first time I was 21, young and dumb. Second was a rebound. The third time was a charm! I got it right this time!
