The Market is alive and well in Oneonta, NY!!

Contrary to what we're hearing in the media and reading in every newspaper, some markets are still strong. Last week alone I was involved in 3 deals with multiple offers. I was representing the seller in one of the deals who couldn't believe the property had only been listed one day and more than one offer. In some prices we actually have a shortage of listings. The hardest thing has been convincing sellers and buyers that what they're hearing and reading isn't happening in our market.

Becky,

That's great you are busy. Are you finding many REO's & short sales? I was involved with an offer this week but was up against 3 other offers because it was an REO and was priced very well. I'm wondering if that is what you are finding in NY as well.

Hi Michael,

We are not as of yet finding many short sales or REO's. Our market here did go somewhat crazy when everyone else was booming but we never seem to experience the extreme highs and lows that a lot of other parts of the country experience. I guess we're fortunate to still be fairly busy. The prices have come down in our area about 10-15% from our all time highs in '05.
