Contest by Debbie Reynolds - Getting to know each other better (August 2013 challenge)

Some things about my PAST:

1. I've never been to a slumber party (growing up). I must sleep in my own bed.

2. I played piano for 12 years and ballet for 14 years.

3. I decided to get a Civil Engineering degree, thinking that I'm not creative enough to major in Architecture.

4. Besides gas and water for windshield wiper, I didnt know a car needed anything else. Long story short, I dried up and burned up transmission in my first car, Toyota Tercel.

5. One of my coolest trip was to visit the rural villages in the mountains of Kenya.

6. We valet-ed a $500 car (with no grill in front) at Embassy Maui. It was pretty darn funny when they pulled our car up among the Benzs and Bentleys.

7. My most high profile client was a news anchor who now works with Headline news. We remain good friends today.

8. We used to have cool vacation before we had kids or before real estate consumed our lives. We've been to China, Kenya, Maui and many more to go once our kids go to college.

9. I grew up with asthma. I almost didnt make it during one of my attacks when I was 12 years old.

10. I believe swimming "cured" me of my asthma. It made my lungs stronger and my last asthma attack was when I was 16. Lived some of the hardest nights when I was very young.

These are so much fun to read.  That is so cool that swimming could have such a big impact.  I started swimming again a month ago, so this makes me extra happy.

Loreena,  I am glad you out-grew the asthma.  What an expensive way to learn that cars need more than gas and windshield wiper fluid.  The valet is pretty funny!

I am jealous you play the piano, Loreena.  My mother forced me when I was young and I rebelled.  Wish I had listened.  Funny about the car.

My daughter took ballet and plays the piano but civil engineering? Hard to believe the same person could do all that.

Hello Loreena,

That's such a cute picture. I always knew you were a talented person but I never knew you played the piano and ballet for 14years. Can't wait to see what else you will do in life...

Loreena, carrying your own bed to sleep in while visiting rural villages in the mountains of Kenya must have been very tiring even if you outgrew the asthma.

I am glad you got over your asthma! I would also like to go to both Kenya and Maui. That is (sad) funny about the car. I once had a car when I was around age 21 that developed a bad oil leak on the drive from NJ to VT for a ski trip. I didn't want to stop driving so I stopped in an auto store and bought two cases of oil with me to make the 7 hour trip and get the car fixed while I was skiing instead of missing the ski trip. As an adult I cringe at all the oil that was wasted, but I wanted to go on that ski trip!
