Release to Freedom

For those of you who may have been wondering how 'Munk' has been doing after his rescue about a monthCenter for wildlife rescue ago; I, actually, went up to Weston, CT, on Saturday and watched him dash to freedom.  When I say watched, I mean just that. In the blink of an eye, without time to click my camera, he was gone.  Off to critter-land and the world of nuts, berries and other animals, large and small.

The people at Wildlife in Crisis couldn't have been nicer, more helpful and, definitely, understanding as I probably called far too often while checking on the well-being of my little friend. Peter (yes, we're now on a first name basis) was very informative and wonderful.  I'm not sure if I annoyed or amused him with my multiple inquiries; however, I did hear him chuckle from time to time.

So my final update from Critterville is that, after 2 weeks in the hospital, all is well.  My chipmunk is gleefully running wild in the woods and making new friends, and hopefully, staying away from cats!

Here are a few photos that I took when I went to witness the 'Release to Freedom'.  It is truly amazing what the volunteers do to rescue our wildlife.  I, for one, am most appreciative. Thank you!

Christie, if they released that owl the same time they released your chipmunk you know what it's future would have been

Hi Debbie, I'm sure he has but, at least, he's alive, healthy and off with his buddies.  That's enough to make me smile.  See you soon.

Wild Life in Crisis is a wonderful rescue service in Weston for local wildlife, thanks for sharing the link. If you have free time to spare to volunteer or even a small donation would be much appreciated.

Hi David .... Thank you so much for your comment.  I have scanned and sent all info regarding Wildlife in Crisis' needs and donations to people who care about our rescued animals.  I, for one, am so appreciative and grateful for all that Wildlife in Crisis does for our natural habitat.  Thank you for reiterating their services and our local wildlife.  I am so grateful.

Christi - So happy for you, and Munk!    It is sad to see our friends, brief as those friendships may be, go back to where they should be.    But also a very happy time....  and, you made more friends!
