Inserting a Video in Your Blog Posts

Real Estate Agent with Woodland Management Service / Woodland Real Estate, Keller Williams Fox Cities #1 in Forest Land Mgmt

Inserting a Video  in Your Blog Posts.

I had a question earlier today about how to insert a video and I almost forwarded a blog that I wrote back in January, except that the procedure has changed slightly since then and it does not seem to be working for me anymore.

After consulting with Kerrie this morning before posting the Summer Video Challenge, I discovered why my video's have not been loading for the last few months, so I will share the new and simpler procedure with all of my friends here in the Rain.

Step 1, decide which video you would like to insert in your blog, the one that I am using for an example is not my own so I cannot use it for the contest but it will work well for this blog.choosing a youtube video

While in Youtube either grab the url from the top of your browser or click the share button and copy the url code that it presents for you.  Note the old method was similar to this except that we grabbed the "embed code" instead of the url address.

Step 2, decide where you would like to put the video within your blog, and place your curser there.

Step 3, click the video button on your AR video button

Step 4, paste the url address into the url box.

inserting videoStep 5, click the Insert button, then shout Yippeee, because your video should be showing up in your blog.

This method should work for vimeo and other videos as well.

Tips to implement video always welcomed if only 3 percent of agents, brokers are shooting, editing, rendering, uploading video. But a slide show and Kenny G music bed no matter how you use the wild slice and dice confusing edits is not a video. It is a slide show with Kenny G to avoid dead air and just filler. The audio for the video is 40% of the experience. Don't waste it! The size of the video you embed in your post should consider how old, the quality and the other component size of images, headlines you use for the balance, look, feel of the online media blog post too! 560 wide on an older video can make the resolution look poor which dings the performance, quality of the piece you hunt and peck too.

For some reason I always thought this was very complicated and avoided it. Then figured it out one day and it was quite easy. But thanks for the easy reminder!

These are good instructions Bob.  It might help others who are reading the contest, if you could modify the original blog to link back to this blog.  Aloha,

I haven't posted a video in a while and I just did one for the contest before reading this post. I did it the "old way" and it seems to have worked. I copied the embed code from YouTube, placed the cursor where I wanted the video to appear in my post, switched to the HTML mode, and pasted in the embed code.

Hi Mitch, sometimes it does this, just hit post anyway and it will generally sort itself out.

I like your workaround to the problem, posting a photo with a link embedded to the youtube video.

Bob, the process is so much simpler than 'grabbing' an embed code. Thanks for your mountainous cache of wisdom.

Bob Crane ~ Just in time for the contest. I have had problems with "embed" vs "insert." So now I know to forget the whole embed thing with AR. I will give it a shot.
