William, sounds like a frustrating transaction. I remember somewhat similar situation, but later learned that the client was being investigated for criminal activity. Guess they really were hiding something.

I'm still working on closing one like you described. My seller was slow to respond and even got us out of contract. We got back under contract and still had issues. I should have it all wrapped up tomorrow. I told him I couldn't do this on my own, and I need him to play along, too.

This is, in my experience is a sign of something not good....usually that has led to loan issues.

People have their guard up to the extreme lately.  I had a tenant that wanted to make an application on my rental listing.  His agent called and explained that he didn't want to give his SSN or Driver's License number.  He didn't want his identity open to theft.  Well, it has to be open to a credit check if he wanted the rental.
