I know this is going to make some of you jealous (sorry), but I have killer tickets-- right behind home plate and just a couple rows back for the Texas Rangers vs. the Angels of Anaheim tomorrow. It's a 1:00PM game (gotta bring that darn cell phone) and the weather should be breezy and in the low 80's. I'm so excited, I'm bouncing in my chair.
Are you kidding me? Does it get any better? It is only the month of March (or Feb 29th in a leap year) that I get to have a hot dog and a beer right in the middle of my business day, when I should be working. But what is baseball without a dog and a beer? Tomorrow will be a great day.
On Saturday, the day after tomorrow, I managed to get three more killer seats for the Angels vs. the Chicago Cubs. I'm going to take my two favorite men-- my husband and my father. Should be a great game.
Actually, I bought all of my games at Ticketmaster.com as soon as they went on sale, because I love to sit right behind home plate. People that just "show up" on game day tend to get lawn seats.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with those lawn seats-- you can set out a blanket and catch homers out there. Also, the tickets are only $5.
Anyway, I am not just writing this to brag about the fact that I will see 12 - 15 games in March, with all kinds of match-ups... I've got Giants tickets; I've got Brewers tickets; I've got... Oh there I go again.
The actual reason I write this post is because, for those of you looking for a nice little getaway-- especially those of you in the states close by-- you should really consider Arizona in March. Think about it: You can go to a baseball game of your choosing every single day. It's Spring Training time folks, and I really feel sorry for the 48 states that don't have it. The weather is absolutely perfect. The players are friendly, loose, relaxed. As I watch Vladimir Guerrero warm up in the box...I can hear the chatter between him and the other players. It's like watching a game on Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams. Small intimate ballparks, completely open to the gorgeous weather.
Really, if you need a getaway, think Arizona in March. Stay for a week; see a different game every day. If you tell me you're coming, we'll meet up for a dog-and-a-beer.
