Would you like to be a hero in the eyes of your client?  Show them a way to save money?  Then here is a good idea.

Wi-Fi Thermostat-Perfect for 2nd Home Owners

Durango is a real estate market where we get a number of 2nd home purchasers because we are a short drive from cities like Albuquerque and Phoenix where it is considerably hotter during the summer months.  We also offer first-class skiing at the Durango Mountain Resort during the winter months.  Consequently, many 2nd home or vacation property owners, when they leave, adjust their thermostats to cut down on their utility bills while the home is not occupied.  However, when they come back to their 2nd home, the temperature will usually be too cold in the winter and too warm in the summer upon their arrival.  Thermostat clipart

Rob Levy, a good friend of mine and broker with the Rob Levy Team at Keller Williams Realty in Portland, Oregon, sent out a message via Facebook the other day about a product that he has purchased and installed in his vacation home.  It is a Wi-Fi connected thermostat made by Honeywell that will allow you to connect to your home thermostat from anywhere in the world and adjust the heat and/or air conditioning from afar.  Your whole house does not need to be “smart wired” for this to work.  What a fabulous idea and especially pertinent for brokers who sell a lot in the vacation home market.  Not a bad deal for around $100.

Now all you have to do is share this with your clients.  You will become their hero!

Rick, thanks for the great info.  A lot of homeowners in the Chicagoland area have 2nd homes and this is something they would definitely be interested in!
