You Want the Best Service But...

You Don't Want to Pay for It?

It's a fact that the people who get the bet deals or "bang for their buck" are the ones who shop, and shop WELL. However, there are times when you think that just because you are paying less, you are getting the better deal. 

The truth is something else entirely.

This is something I have to consistently tell my clients.

As the saying goes: "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..."

When clients shop around for the mortgage that will mesh with their situation, they have this assumption that every mortgage is just a mortgage, and by the same token, any lender is just a lender or any broker is just a broker.

Those who have ever had a bad experience with the EMPLOYEES at large lenders will know this isn't true.

In the reverse mortgage business, we call employees at large lenders "order takers" because they know very little about the business. All they do is take your order and move on to the next client. You become a file that is pushed from one desk in the office to another, without the necessary attention it deserves. Especially when you are making one of the largest financial transactions in your life!

Order takers have salaries, I work 100% on commission.

How is this benefit you, the consumer?

It's in my best interest to make sure your lone gets done properly, efficiently and with the best possible service or I lose money I need to provide for my kids. Not to mention, you can walk out anytime during the process if you are unhappy with my service and I get NOTHING! Order takers don't care if you leave because they still get their salary. Maybe they lose a small bonus, but they cans till put food on the table.

So when a client used to come to me and say, “Bank of America's reverse mortgage loans have no origination fees...can you match that?”  I can but I won't. 

I know my product and I know that you will have the best possible service with me.

Instead, I used to tell them to go to BofA and start the loan process. After a month of waiting for an appraisal, that will be a much lower value than what I can get, they would back to me. The problem for the client is they have wasted precious time and money because they now must pay for 2 appraisals; one with them and a new one with me.

Discounting fees usually mean discounted service and/or a discounted quality of work and product.
