OK yesterday I felt put upon. I had lots of work to do (which I now need to do today)...... My brother who has metastatic cancer (who is clear scans) was having chest pain and was scheduled for a Angioplasty yesterday at 11 AM.... That sets the stage for the day....
I wake up at 4:19 AM for irrigation. The water is not flowing. I ask my neighbor who is looking for the water for a ride because I want to show him something (a place it backs up). The water is not backed up but I fall into a 1 foot hole and hurt my foot. I was pleased that I could still walk....I found the water (I was stealing it). I had help last time and my help forgot to free the water. I decided the thing to do was to keep the water then water my neighbors yard. There was problems with a ditch between us and I tried to increase the flow by pulling weeds in the ditch. One of the weeds must have yanked back because I fell over and landed on a tree stump on my bottom in the irrigation ditch. I couldn't move for a couple of minutes and no one heard my scream. When I got up I realized that now my back and shoulder hurt too. I was thinking I was lucky I didn't break anything. I decided the clogged ditch was my neighbors problem (young guy in his 20's) not a 51 year old person.
So now we go to the main event. My brother's angioplasty 2500 miles away. That is amazing. He had a 95% blockage in the main artery to the heart. The heart attack is called the widow maker.... Within 1 hour they had cleared it, put a stent in it and put him into recovery. Needless to say we were very relieved. Within the 1/2 hour I got to talk to my brother and he sounded pretty good and felt pretty lucky to be alive. He is 49 and has an 11 year old daughter.
My dad had been to the emergency room on Tuesday. He had a 2:30 PM follow up appointment with his doctor. I took him because his wife was ill from having dental work. The doc did not like the way he presented or his lab numbers. He wanted to rule out a pulmonary embolism. Plus there were other issues with his kidneys and diabetes that he wanted addressed. For some reason I still do not understand the doc could not admit him to the hospital he worked for and dad had to go back to the emergency room. It was a zoo today. The ER doc did all the tests which came back mostly negative. They put dad on oxygen because he get dropping his stats and had a high CO2 level in his arteries.... That took until 10 PM....
So I get to thinking I either had a very bad day or a very good day....
My brother did not have a heart attack and is going home and feeling much better then he has in months. My dad probably can be treated and will improve and did not have anything worthy of admittance (or else the ER doc is wrong). I did not break any bones or seriously hurt myself.... So was it a good day or a bad day?
