A tribute blog to our good friend Don Thompson. Ingenious squirrel trap.

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage

We all know and love Don Thompson, our blog buddy, and one who can solve all problems.

Don was born with the ability to make anything and come up with solutions.

A search of my blogs will show him finding the answer to any question that we have had.

When I saw this I immediately thought of Don!

Evidently, someone had a problem with squirrels getting into the house.

Squirrel trap

Problem solved?  Well, we don't know whether it worked but it was a good idea, worthy of our Don!

P. S.  Don also has a good sense of humor!

Hahaha!  I understand the frustration.  It appears as though we finally got the squirrels out of our attic.  One of them fried himself on a wire in the yard...glad it wasn't a wire in our attic.  The other still comes to the upstairs sliding door in Sean's room and fusses...It scared Tori, his wife.  She couldn't imagine a squirrel making that much noise.  Apparently, it still wants to live in our house but it's too scared so it just lectures through the glass.  The oppossum got hit and David got the other.  The skunk moved on...we are really glad too!  The snakes seem to find that we had too much activity for them.  The Roadrunner is cleaning up the lizard population.  Eventually, we will have it all to ourselves...hehe!

I love this post!  Mr. Don, I can't wait to hear your take on things and how you would improve upon the better squirrel trap!  I'll be watching!

A good 22 rifle with rat shot works well.  The pellets doesn't go far but it takes care of the problem.  Also a rubber snake works very good.

Barbara, although we haven't seen him in such a long, long time, the first "person" I thought of when I saw these pictures was our dear friend Nutsy. I cringed....

But that does show a very high level of frustration. Fixing the hole might have been a better idea. I hate to think of what happens when one of Nutsty's relatives actually springs the trap. Yuck...

John, thanks for stopping by.

James, I never heard of a rat shot.  Sounds as if you are also ingenious.

Debbie, even the animals know what a kind soul you have.  They are not afraid of you!  That squirrel really is a bold fellow and you might just let him come in now and then just to amuse Luke.  After all, you did take over a house that all the critters loved.  LOL

Andrea, I miss Nutsy.  I have been too busy to keep up with all my old buddies but I probably miss Nutsy the most!  He would have jumped on the cruel deed with all four feet and a bunch of tail and would have accused the Arkansas people of all kinds of cruelty to his relatives.

This blog has been posted nearly 24 hrs. and we haven't heard yet from Don!  Think I need to send someone over to see about him?    Or he is working on something very, very clever.....

A new invention on how to keep squirrels out of the house.  If he can do that, I'm jumping on his band wagon and buying stock,

Having said all that, I have employed a VERY good company to rid houses of squirrels.  If anyone is interested, let me know. They are expensive but so thorough and knowledgable, you will NOT have another squirrel problem if you employ them.   They go all over Arkansas.

Just heard from Don.  He's o.k.   but has other things occupying him today.

Definately a "ah shucks" blog. Thank you Barbara for the complements and confidence in my abilities. I've always had fun dreaming up stuff and doing it.

Today was a get some culture day, Friend Mary invited me to go to the Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough exhibit at the Arkansas Art Center. Here's the link. This a worthwhile  exhibit especially if one takes the tour conducted by Paul Bash.

Now for the blog topic, squirrel traps. I doubt that a rat trap would deter a clever squirrel. Those suckers are ingenious. Smarter than your average rat. I think the traps designed to catch and release work best.

Anita should know. She's had a lot of experience with squirrels in the attic.

Anita, we forgive Don for being out obtaining culture today instead of blogging or inventing new things.  Mary, his new friend, is good for him!

Ok, Don, we forgive you for being busy today.  Friend Mary is someone I really like.  I took myself down to the Arkansas Art Center exhibit several weeks ago.  I did not want to miss it.  Seeing the old master's paintings was something I always wanted to do.  I also hustled up to Crystal Bridges as soon as it opened.  If you and Mary have not been there, go.

Barbara, Crystal Bridges is definately a must go and see. I have been there once and Mary several times.

We are going together September 2nd or 3rd. We also plan to hike the extensive trails around the place.
