Growing up
Yesterday was the last day of summer for my boys.
All of a sudden I have a son that is a sixth grader and one who is now in third grade. Wow....How did that happen? Just seems like yesterday I was getting Trey ready for 1st grade and Evan was just a toddler.
I guess my parents and others were so right.....time does move faster the older you get! The three of us have had a whirlwind of a summer.
Growing up
Baseball consumed the most of it, but I tried to do things for them that made my time with
them memorable. For Fathers day I took them to Coors Field and spent the day at the Rockies game. They had an amazing time. Being a baseball player Trey can't get enough baseball and Evan is not that far behind.
Then we went to Reno/Tahoe for a baseball tourney over the week of the 4th of July.
Spent a great 6 days on the road just having a ton of fun. Of course baseball, against the best competition from around the western states that we had seen. Pool time.....hitting golf balls to floating greens at the hotel....and of course....the flight....with teammates....that was fun.
Growing up

Then, yesterday, I have a good friend that was a player at CU and is still there on the staff, who got me a field pass for practice. So, the boys and I went to Boulder to see practice. Got to get inside the ropes and stand shoulder to shoulder with the players as they practiced. The boys got to stand among them listen to them talk and be a part of something that was amazing for them.
The best part was as practice was over, and the players were coming off the Field, one stopped and talked to my boys, signed their footballs. Then all of a sudden all of the players were there engaging with my sons. Laughing, talking, playing with them and just having fun. And as I sat there talking to the players, it hit me........these boys are still kids.
Growing up
A bit older than my two, but they are still young men that are out on there own, realizing there goals and dreams. They had worked hard, as they were growing up, with a goal in mind and as I talked to the players, you could tell they were so proud to have the opportunity to play for CU. They talked about how they grew up wanting to play college ball, starting at my sons ages. Looking at these players, their background, where they were from, what they had been through......they all grew up and became amazing young men, that my sons were in awe to be around.
That is a memory that they will have the rest of their lives as they are growing up.....and I know they are well on there way to being even more amazing!
So proud of my sons, and I hope someday they can inspire young boys to be amazing as they are growing up!
