The level of service offered clients can not remain stagnant.We live and work in an area that is always in a state of fluctuation. One of the beautiful characteristics of the DC area is the vibrancy created in neighborhoods as new residents move into the area. These new neighbors often bring a "taste" of home in the form of shops, traditions and my personal favorite ---food. They bring new and exciting lifestyles to their new homes.
They also bring new challenges in the areas of service. We at the MacArthur Group recognize the changing market place and ever changing needs of those that seek our service. There are two major areas of concern, and they both revolve around communication.
We have experienced an increase in clients that have come to our area from Mexico, Central America and South America. We have also seen a resurgence of younger clients. As much as things change, some things remain the same. Real Estate Law has remained relatively the same with the only major changes in areas that protect the consumer. Our focus on education, full representation and working closely with our clients "Every Step of the Way" remains our groups primary mission.

The MacArthur Group is proud to announce the addition of two new members.
Alana Steele has been an agent in the Olney office of Long and Foster for almost two years. Her initial focus has been in the Commercial market. Recently, she has begun working with buyers that are making the transition from the rental market to home ownership. She fills a vital need for the group. It became apparent to me, after my wife shook her head at my description of a home to a young couple recently that my language skills were beginning to erode. I was describing a finished basement as "a great rec room that was already wired for sound. Just picture the parties you could enjoy here with your friends listening to your favorite records on the stereo." The young couple nodded their heads and continued the search. My wife shared "Honey, this is 2008. Nobody has a rec room and nobody listens to records."
Alana, talented and compassionate, speaks the language of a new generation. She understands real estate law and practice and is well suited to hear what that portion of our client base is saying and obviously better suited to share information with them "Every Step of the Way" through the process.
Maria Lourdes Tudela has been an agent in the Olney office of Long and Foster for over two years. Initially, she was a dual career agent. Lourdes also teaches Spanish at a local parochial school. Her language skills have been called upon by several agents in the office as we have experienced an increase in clients that speak English as a second language. She has been very concerned that the Latino community has not always received proper counseling regarding home purchases. Ms. Tudela's background as an educator has enabled her to share information with clients in a fashion that ensures they understand the process "Every Step of the Way."
Members of our group have spent many hours attempting to learn Spanish. We remain "touristy" at best. We can share basic terms and we can communicate in a limited fashion. As one of the founders of the group, I determined that speaking louder and slowly was not sufficient to give me a comfort level that I was being understood. In order to fairly and justly represent those that come here rooted in a Spanish language, we had to add a member that could completely fulfill their communication needs. Ms. Tudela has filled that need.
Lourdes, bright and caring and so beautifully fluent in Spanish is a much needed valuable addition. Her knowledge of Real Estate Law and practice is of the highest standard. Her commitment to excellence and bi-lingual talents raise the level of our groups overall ability to serve the Latino market.
