Speechless Sunday - My Favorite Time of Year

The Maryland State Fair, to me, is synonymous with the beginning of fall and fall has always been my favorite time of the year with all the sites and smells that go along with it.  I love the harvest time, the changing colors of the leaves, the smell in the air on a cool crisp autumn day.  But the beginning of that is fair time and I absolutely love it!!  August 23 is the beginning of the Maryland State Fair and I will be there, just like I've been every year since I moved to Maryland in 1997.

State fairs give may families an inexpensive way to see the country and taste food from different regions.  There is always something for the entire family to do..

State Fairs are always a festive time of year.  As a kid, I grew up just 6 blocks from the California State Fair grounds, and loved going nearly every day during the annual run.  In the 1960s however, they moved to new "improved" grounds at CalExpo, and it never regained the original State Fair flavor.  Your's looks more to my liking.

I agree State Fairs provide good wholesome family fun and it can be inexpensive if you watch for opportunities.  Our State Fair still has the old style flavor and there's a lot of 4-H activities.
