When even trees are turned to fools!

When even trees are turned to fools! As charcoal clouds bar beams of grace
And chills in August seem out of place,
‘Tis certain that Nature breaks her rules.
When even trees are turned to fools!

I noticed some leaves beginning to change color yesterday.

It’s not at all surprising. Trees react to many things, but most notably, the amount of sunlight which is critical for photosynthesis.

If there is not enough sunlight, trees cannot sustain themselves and they begin to shut down.

This year the “Sunny South” has been more of an ideal than a reality. According to one local weather expert, we have only has three days this Summer with no rain.

The lesson learned is this:

There is no such thing as typical weather.

You can’t change it, you just have to react to it!

Richard, I don't know about you.... but if I don't see another rain drop for a long time I won't be disappointed.

Exactly.  Rain rain rain in south, southeast, mid atlantic, drought in southwest, mid section.  Last year I believe it was just the opposite.

Hi Richard, That was very prophetic and you make a great case for life and all it's uncertainties. You can challenge to no avail or you can accept and just be grateful for being alive to be able to observe it. Wonderful post!

WE are seeing many foolish trees in our area.  The dry weather is making the leaves turn already.

Richard -- I am with Vern (#5) with regard to some leaves changing already, but we have had very little rain here recently (last 2+ months).  So though he is in MN and I am in WA - we are getting same weather items.  I know ours aren't turning because of the drop in temperature, as we haven't dropped below mid 50s yet.

Hmm - if too dry is getting leaves to turn early and too wet is getting leaves to turn early, maybe we have just been spoiled with "just the right amount of rain" for several years.
