Maryland State Fair Begins This Week - August 23, 2013
Fall is my favorite time of year and from the time I was a little girl the "Fall Fair" to me has been synonymous with the beginning of fall. I have loved the fair since then. I love the exhibits, the animals and even the midway.
All year not just farmers work at making their exhibits for the fair, whether it's fruits and vegetables from the garden, preserves or baked goods from the kitchen, clothing, rugs and quilts or animals from the barn - folks from all over the state of Maryland and neighboring counties in neighboring states work all year to bring the best of their best to the Maryland State Fair to exhibit.
The Maryland State Fair IS the 10 best days of summer starting on August 23 and running until Labor Day. During the day and evenings the exhibit halls, the barns and the midway will be open, there are several live concerts being played in the evenings. You'll want to check the Maryland State Fair's website for details. And, August 25 is the Governor's Volunteer Day - those who have volunteered throughout the year can request passes for the Maryland State Fair and attend for free on August 25. For more information about the Governor's Volunteer Day visit here.
And, if you happen to be in the Home Arts Building stop by and see me in the Quilt Department where I'll be most days throughout the fair.
