 1.  Question: Are their public golf courses available for La Quinta residents?

Answer: Yes!  SilverRock Golf Course in La Quinta has discounted rates for residents. The historic La Quinta Resort & Spa has both the Mountain and Dunes courses open to the public, and PGA West has The Stadium, the Nicklaus Tournament, and the Greg Norman courses.

2.  Question:  Where are the best places in the desert to buy clubs, golf clothes, and gear?

Answer:  Pete Carlson's in Palm Desert, Lumpy's in La Quinta, and most resorts have great resort wear and golf gear year-round.

3. Question: Why join a private club?

Answer:  Private clubs in La Quinta provide activities like tennis, swimming, fitness centers, tournaments, and social activities in a club atmosphere.  They make living the desert life a special experience, where you can form friendships and you and your family can make the most of your time here!

4. Question:  What is over-seeding and when does it happen?

                                                                                 The Hideaway Golf Club

Answer:  Each fall, beginning in October, most of the golf courses in the desert are over-seeded with rye grass.  The water is shut off for a number of days, drying out the bermuda fairways and greens.  The courses are thatched and raked and then over-seeded with the winter rye and the water is turned back on.  This ensures the bright green grass all winter, when the bermuda goes dormant.  Many of the courses are closed for 4-6 weeks during this time and are ready to go in early November for the beginning of the "season".

 5. Question: What are your favorite courses in La Quinta?

Answer:  For a traditional course that I could play everyday, I prefer La Quinta Country Club.  For great views and fun tournaments, I play The Hideaway Golf Club & The Traditon Golf Club.  When I want to play a very special Fazio design: The Quarry. If you are looking for a challenge:  The Mountain Course, at La Quinta Resort!
