The “perfect” neighborhood in Rancho Mirage?

Rancho Mirage is a prominent city in the Coachella Valley. Located in Southern California, it has a population of 17,504. The average temperature during the daytime is 88 degrees, and the average rainfall is 3.38 inches per year. The abundant sunshine, wonderful climate and resort lifestyle have drawn many political leaders, top entertainers, corporate executives and retirees to make a home here.

Located adjacent to neighboring city of Palm Desert, the area is nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, providing protection against the worst winds and sandstorms.

Many of the homes in this non-gated neighborhood were built in the 50s and 60s. These mid-century homes are highly desirable, having been well-maintained and upgraded. Most have their own pool/spas for the ultimate in relaxation and resort living.

You can leave your car in the garage because nearly anything you want is within walking distance, and if you want to travel further, the bus stop is conveniently located on Highway 111. The River, a popular shopping/dining/movie destination, is just across the highway. Wally’s, the premier fine dining experience in the desert, is located at the base of the neighborhood.  A few of the other restaurants within walking distance are Mimi’s, Applebee’s, The Old Spaghetti Factory, and others.

Westfield Palm Desert and Desert Crossing Shopping Center are just a couple of miles down the road, providing more shopping and dining options.  There are several dental and medical offices in the neighborhood and surrounding area, and the Eisenhower Medical Center is within 3 miles.mfc photo by k cline

The world renowned Bump and Grind Hiking Trail, winding up the mountain that protects the cove, is just one of the hiking trails in the area.  Whitewater Park is adjacent to the neighborhood, and hosts many events during the winter.

An elementary school  is located in the neighborhood, and middle and high schools are nearby. College of the Desert is within 3 miles and other higher education facilities are located throughout the valley.

There is a gas station, car wash and tire/repair shop in the immediate vicinity.

Interstate 10, a major east-west freeway, is easily accessed in minutes to whisk you away to major attractions and beaches inSan Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and beyond. Closer to home, activities in the ‎Coachella Valley are only minutes away.

I have lived in this neighborhood for more than 50 years, and it really is perfect! Low non-violent crime (mostly stealing from unlocked parked cars on the street) and centrally located in the CV!
