Marketing Tip Monday: Don't Impulse-Buy at Conferences

At many conferences and conventions, there is one thing that makes a standard appearance: vendors! They are there, no matter the convention. At the NAR Convention in Las Vegas one year, the vendors even walked the hallways to find people to send to their booths. That was dedication!

This year, at the NAR Convention, being held in San Francisco, a whopping 400 vendors are expected to be present. This is, by far, not the only conference this year - there will be many, many more local and national conferences and conventions. You can bet one thing with a certainty - a large percentage of vendors will try to make you buy before you leave that conference!

Your Monday Marketing Tip is this: Resist that knee-jerk reaction to buy all the best new things when at a conference. Set yourself a budget and don't go over your set spending amount. Even better,
peruse the list of anticipated vendors if they are available on the conference's website and choose in advance which products you may want to purchase. This will keep your impulse buying at a minimum - and you won't wake up the day after the conference is over with a ton of new gadgets, websites, software, and apps that you have no desire to climb out from under. Better yet, send everything (brochures and all) to your Virtual Assistant to sort through and implement for you! Then you can just reap the benefits!

You are definitely not alone, Kristal! It's hard not to just buy, buy, buy when we go to those conventions (especially NAR, where there seem to be thousands of vendors!). However, once you realize what you're doing and how you can go about doing a better job of managing your money, you'll make much better choices on the next go-round! Happy shopping!
