Coventry Mall in Pottstown Posted for Auction in September

This article breaks my heart, because the Coventry Mall has a very warm place in my soul and holds many fond memories from my teenage years... It was the place where in the 1970's teenagers could go to visit with friends, hang out at the Old Orange Julius and just be kids.  I remember shopping at the old shoe store (when the mall was still outdoors and not enclosed) with my very first paycheck I ever earned.  I hope that this sale brings good things and breathes a breath of fresh air into this piece of my childhood...

(Updated 4:00 p.m.) NORTH COVENTRY — A notice was posted on the doors of the Coventry Mall Monday announcing that the property will be sold in a public auction.

The announcement was seen as good news by some of the merchants and officials contacted by The Mercury.

The notice was posted where shoppers and employees entering the mall could see it, but as they went about their business on Tuesday some shoppers were unaware of the action, while others said they were not surprised.

According to the notice, U.S. Bank National Association sought and received approval of the sale in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The property will be sold to the highest bidder at auction on Sept. 19.

The notice states that the plaintiff, U.S. Bank National Association, is owed $62,406,171.09 plus “continuing interests and costs” as of June 26.
