Another dreary day . . . in "sunny Florida."

When I moved here, I did so because of comments from friends who said, "the sun shines every day! You'll just love it, and you'll feel better, too!" It's strange, but I think it's rained almost every day since I arrived. The thought that comforts me (since I'm from Central New York) is that, "I don't have to shovel it." When I feel like complaining, I'm reminded that I don't live THERE any more with the high taxes, cold and snow. I lived near the beautiful Finger Lakes, Cayuga in particular, where the water temperature was never above 72 degrees. It was a wonderful place to swim, but very few do because the water is intolerably cold for most. Still, the most beautiful sites are when those who own sail-boats take advantage of a sunny day and they all hit the lake with their boats. You can see white sails for miles. It's awesome. I know the weather here is just "that time of year," and I'm content to wait for the beautiful sunny days. I haven't had to wear a winter coat, so there are advantages to being HERE and not THERE.

I was in WalMart the other night looking at post-cards to mail to friends and family up north. I spotted a few that just made me laugh, but seemed a bit cruel to those who are up THERE. They're a split card with "This is ME!" on a beautiful sunny, sandy beach; and the other half has a picture of someone shoveling a couple of feet of snow with the quote, "This is YOU!" Since I've been there and done that, somehow it seems unfair to THEM. So let the rain fall and the clouds gather. It may seem like another dreary day in Florida, but I DON'T HAVE TO SHOVEL IT.

Hope you all have a warmth on the inside to make up for the dreary appearance of the outside. In spite of the weather, remember to SMILE. You don't have to shovel it either. Those who have had severe weather lately, my heart goes out to them. Freezing rain, snow, and all the other problems those bring . . . loss of electricity, fender-benders, slips and slides, and not as much socialization because of the weather extremes . . . a SMILE will warm up your day, too. God bless us . . . everyone.

Hi Nick M - It's been too busy to even check for postings. Going nuts here. Thanks for the "warm" welcome. You sound like a great guy. Oddly enough, when I was a kid, the rain would fall on one side of the street and not the other, and often we would go across to the neighbors to play, so I know what you mean by that. Where I live, the "H's" don't seem to get too bad, and lately all the "T's" twirling things about seem more of a concern. (Don't say the "T" word either.) Weather wise, it's been an unusual year and seems like that will continue. In the area where I'm from, they've had UNUSUAL SNOW STORMS. I went on line last night and saw that they have had 100 inches in a few days. That's almost 7 feet with a forecast of 2 more feet today. Man, am I glad I moved when I did. I can't even begin to imagine! Check out the web on SNOW STORMS - Oswego, NY and you find some video footage. The snow is over the man's head that is using a snow-blower in his yard. AMAZING. Well, time to get back to work. Thanks again, and keep your fingers crossed about the "H's" and "T's" so the weather will improve. Have a sunny day. Janet d;-)
