Photos from a February 2008 trip to Praia do Flamengo, Salvador Bahia Brazil and the return scene to Wisconsin.  It is mid-summer in the southern hemisphere and vacation time for Brazilians.   Any worker who has worked one year receives an extra months paycheck in December called month 13.  Later they also are entitled by law to a month off with pay.  Many Brazilians who can afford to come to Salvador in the northeast, a formal capitol city, from the south cities such as Sao Paulo.

Mike-

Thanks for the pictures of Shawano from Sunday.  We have a place on Legend Lake and had to leave Saturday night because of the snowstorm.  I was looking on the webcam for Legend Lake and there is 22 inches of snow on the ground.  Great for the lake levels, but we were unhappy that we had to cut our weekend short.

Hi Laura, We are also Legend Lakers, Morning Star, my wife is a die hard wind surfer so you may have seen her sailing off horseshoe. You are right, we really need this snow to raise the water level.

Mike- We are off of Rainbow on Deerpath.  We bought the end of 2006 after looking at many, many lakes in Wisconsin.  We love it up there and couldn't imagine a lakehouse anywhere else.  Can't wait for the thaw so we can get the boat and jetski in the water.  We probably rode past your wife while we were out tubing or skiing.

Kim We do like Wisconsin, the change of seasons, but winter can be too long so a mid-winter break has been the answer. Thanks for veiwing the photos!

Laura, There is no comparison in the area to Legend Lake, the channels, bays, clean water, like you I'm dreaming of the 'ice out' and beginning in April I'll be monitoring the webcam to watch for it.  Perhaps we'll see you guys on the water this summer.  Marcia has a large M on her sail and I'm usually nearby on the 'toon for rescue and recovery if the wind dies out.

Mike, if I were you, I would have stowed away the snowblower and bought the next one way ticket right back to Brazil.  Brazil and Argentina are high on my list of places to go for my next big vacation.

Mike, thanks for sharing the  photos.  We have the same snowy winter weather here in Michigan, so I enjoyed seeing the sunny, warm photos.  I'm hoping spring is right around the corner?!
