Outdoor Rooms

After a couple of warm spring-like days, the dropping temperatures remind us that it is still winter.  Despite that thought, I am beginning to see buds on the Bradford pears and dreaming of beautiful Tallahassee days soon to come.

Now is the best time to begin planning for your outdoor retreat.  A few tips courtesy of the Tallahassee Democrat and ARA Content:

*Keep it natural.  It is an outdoor space, so use natural materials that are durable and easy to maintain.

*Have fun with the space.  To add charm, salvage furniture and decorative pieces not currently in use around the house.

*Use low-maintenance plants.  Incorporate native and drought-resistant plants to save water and maintenance time.

*Keep some of the lawn.  Green grass has a natural cooling effect.

*Consider your lifestyle.  Be practical and think about how much time it will take to maintain.

Beauty, durability, and ease of care can all come together in the outdoor space of your dreams.
