Are you tired of staring at those dull cream-colored rooms in your home? If your washed-out walls need a little flare, you may want to brush up on the hottest or coolest color trends before you run out to buy the paint. Home design experts at this year's International Home Builders' Show in Orlando, Fla., suggest using some of today's eye-catching hues.

What's in
For home interiors, brown is quickly becoming the new black, according to Ashley Jennings from Kay Green Design Inc. "People are looking beyond a simple matching process to colors they can instantly connect with, suit their personal comfort level and excite the imagination," says Jennings. The combination of greens and browns are popular with the Gen X homebuyers. Browns, black, grayed out greens and oxygen - a blue teal green shade - can give a room a sharp and contemporary look.

For a bright-eye-candy look, the combinations of pink, acid green and browns are a sweet addition to a bland dining or living room. But remember, paint isn't the only thing that can brighten up a room. Use accessories like bed comforters and window dressings to accent more neutral colors in a room. Switching curtains is easier than repainting.

I am sorry, but the bright eye candy pink is not for me. I love the different shades of brown, but I disuaded my wife from using pink in my daughter's room. I went with a dark lavender, and I think that might be more acceptable to the men in the room.

I agree Frank. I'm not a pink person either and I think it's a fad that can quickly grow old. I stay more on the neutral side when it comes to paints and use accessories to dress up the room.
