Have Some Respect

By
Home Stager with Aloha Staging

Do you work hard to establish new clients and maintain existing ones?  Does it bother you when someone you know goes after one of your clients??  It happened to me and I was shocked though I shouldn't be!!

We all have our own unique clients that we will attract, because people will do business with us because they know us, like us and trust us.  That is what I strive to achieve with the Realtors and Homeowners that I work with.  What Stager's do is sooo personal.  We go into peoples homes, touch their possessions and remove the memories that they have created there.   Realtors will not use you again if they feel you could jeopardize the relationship with their clients.   It is one thing if a Realtor is not satisfied with your work and wants to try another stager.  By all means they should find the right stager that will meet their needs.

I have run across Realtors that have stagers they are currently working with.  Once I find this out, I wish them the best and tell them that I am there should they need me.  I would never mind being a back up to another stager....it would be nice to take a vacation, right?  I would never in my right mind, actively solicit a client from another stager that I personally knew.

I believe in:

Respecting others

Creating your own niche

Give more than you receive

Karma

and Love What You Do!

This is my first blog, ever!

Welcome to ActiveRain. I've only been on it a few weeks and it's wonderful, albeit a bit addictive!

Before becoming a Stager, I had a brief career as a fundraiser and learned a lot about stewardship. I have found that this is a skill that translates well in Staging. I enjoy helping people and truly love what I do. It shows and I think people appreciate my passion.

welcome! this is a wonderful and much needed post. I too believe in finding a niche, and servicing relationships to grow your business. There are other stagers here that have gone so far as to call the realtors that have testimonials on my site and tell them that they will beat my prices. They do not realize that price is not the only factor- it is the class and service that I provide. When they call these agents they leave a bad impression.  Again, welcome and keep posting your great insights. kh

Never change WHO you are, the BEST will come to you if you walk with your head up and treat others as you would like to be treated.  I actually feel sorry for those who must cross the lines to do business.  That is not what Integrity is all about.

Welcome Kahai - so glad you finally jumped in and great first blog.  As you know, this happens more than we like. Great way to address. I am currently in a class for CSP's with some of the other members of Active Rain. This came up yesterday in our discussions. Annoying to say the least. Kym

Kahai:  great blog...and so true.  KARMA.  What goes around comes around and if you are a fraud, embellish on the truth...or take client, it will eventually catch up to you.

When I noticed somone on AR always blogging about something I had just enacted in my own business and the wrote about  in my news letter I was scratching my head wondering how this person was doing the same things as me at around the same time????  Things that I was researching on my own, or taking surveys locally to see if it would work

One day I found out she was receiving my newsletter...my AHA moment.  She was reading it, then blogging it as her own....amazing.  The best though..... I  just found out she is now offering the exact same marketing package that I have offered for the almost TWO years I've been in business...it's o.k.  I know what I have done in the past to help my client, I know things she doesn't know that I will launch to help my clients,

Am I perfect...I wish.  Only a mere human.  Instead of blogging and boasting about all I've done to get points, I think....gotta run.  I have mountains to climb,...work to be done!

Welcome to AR

Kahai,

Congratulations.. Welcome to active rain. I would like to respond to your blog, as it is great when Stagers work together!  Spreading the financial benefit as well as knowing 4 eyes are better than 2 in many instances. Vacation, not, you are obviously good at what you do! Y I understand the industry, it can be very territorial. In order to work together we all must utilize our strengths and our weaknesses and put them to work. Everyone of us as Professional Stagers know we have areas in a property that's a challenge and we could use a "little help from our friends." The only reason people stab and take over clients is you may be a threat, so hang in there and keep doing just what you do, yet maybe work with the one that solicited your client?  What goes around does come around. I had the same scenario with a builder and they are now out of business and I work with even larger builders. Had I worked with him, Who KNOWS what the outcome would of been?

KAHAI!  E komo mai!  (For those that don't know, this translates to "welcome"!)  I am so impressed with your post.  I completely agree that our integrity will get us so far and if one doesn't have good ethics to uphold within their business, then they shall receive what they have been giving out, that's for sure!

Aloha,

Lachelle

Welcome to AR!  Nice job on your first post.  I was just commenting on another blog about karma.  All five of the points you made are wonderful and what many of us want to represent in our business and our lives... but there are a few who take the road less traveled and will get bit by the karma bug.

Great Blog! I totally agree with you. I am a great believer in Karma. I was reading another blog about someone reaching out to befriend another stager and in turn she was rewarded by that stager referring business to her when she was on vacation. Come to think of it, it was Elaine Maines. Just goes to show you that if you "pay it forward" it comes back to you in thousands. Welcome to AR.

You all are amazing and supportive! It is always nice to hear other peoples stories and know that they also take the high road. Not everyone does as we all have experienced. Here's another "rookie" question ... what does the "feature" thing mean? I look forward to getting to know all of you! Mahalo

Kahai,

Glad to have you in the Rain!  As you can see, we're a loving community. :)

Your post has a specific message and rather than get a lot of comments related to newbies on it, I'd suggest you take a look (AND JOIN!) at the NEWBIES GROUP .  It answers all the questions that beginning Rainers have.  I'm lovin' it so far!  So go get acquainted with it and you'll be a blog pro in no time!

All the best,

Audrey

Kahai...YEAH!  Glad to see you jumped in girl.  Missing your face, but want you to win that competition in April.  Lachelle was amazing in our class this week and we loved spending time with her.  Wish you were here...GREAT first post and a feature to boot.  This is something to stive for, it means more points, so click on your home page and click on my points on the left and it'll show you what you have gotten for the featured post.  GREAT job.

Cathy Lee - I so agree, Karma exists.
