Will the market get better soon? Or, Will it last another couple of years?

I remember last year people saying, "This market won't last another year". All the hopefuls including myself predicted that this market we are currently in now, will turn around soon. Now I admit that I have had a few sales and I even currently have a few buyers down the pipe but honestly is this the same situation we were in last year or does it seem worse?

Threats of a recession, Threats of another war, politicians running in circles promising to be the answer to all our problems. When will it all end? Well the answer is never, but here is a more realistic question. When will it all change?

I know, I know. Cycles! Every business has cycles. Ups and downs. The problem is I'm even hearing the old pros admitting that this is the worst down market they ever experienced.

Luckily for me I own two other companies one is tied to RE, it's a property management company (www.silverstonepropertymanagement.com) and the other is manufacturing company, we custom build Filling Machines for the Bottling and Packaging industries (www.simplicityfillingsystems.com).

All that being said, Anybody out there in a similar situation? Are you deciding what business to put all your eggs in? What are your thoughts?

That is the magic question.  We just don't know.  Typically bad markets only last about one year.

The best position to be in would be to diversify enough to sustain yourself in one business, while the other lags.  Many folks don't have that option, but as an independent broker who has been busting his way through this down market on his own, I can assure you that I will put myself in that position before the next downturn.  Best of luck to you.
