How are you all doing with your New Year's Resolutions? I have been so excited to attack this year more than this year. How are you doing. I've only set a few goals, trying to make this a realistic approach in order to assure a myriad of successes this year. I don't need a million goals, just a few achievable ones. Here's where I sit YTD.
1) Spiritual - I made a committment to reading the bible daily. I'm reading one chapter of proverbs and one chapter of the new testament each day. I'm also trying to memorize a verse every day. I've done great with my readings and just OK with my memorization.
2) Physical - Working out. I had a friend of mine, drop below 8% body fat. He had me get on http://www.crossfit.com/. I have folllowed the workout of the day. I've been really great with this. I've been focused and diligent. I'm not perfect, but I'm so excited about the fact that I'm adhering to a workout regime that is free and that has only repeated one workout all year. I've been runnig for years and it feels awesome having an awesome workout routine for this year. My body has changed. I've firmed up quite a bit. I've staved off any possibility of growing man boobs.
3) Diet - I could go on all day, but the bottom line is that I don't eat after dinner at all. Well, I do...but it's only been about once every 10 days, not every day. It feels great. To top it off, I've given up beer for lent. I never drank a lot, but I do like a Friday and Saturday beer. Needless to say, just this little detox has done wonders as well. I'm not the cover of GQ...YET!!! But I do expect to be soon.
4) Approach each day with a passion and belief that something great is going to happen today. I must say that this has been my greatest challenge. I really work hard. I do expect great things. I keep my attitude positive and I feed myself great things so that my mind is continually refreshed. However.....I do have my moments. When a market like this market seems to blow up on you, you need to remember that we walk by faith and not by sight. Out of this phrase eminates two things. First, All of the BS that the media tries to put on you doesn't impact your business plan in a manner that would paralyze you. When that happens you need to remember to be diligent and we are walking by faith. But, to be honest, I have walked by sight sometimes this year, and bought the lie that things stink. They don't stink....they're just harder than they've been in a while. Secondly, we need to be persistent and never waiver from what we know is right. Having a pity party isn't going to take you where you want to go in 2008.
50 DAYS IN....I'M NOT TEARING UP ANY RECORDS, BUT I'M DOING GREAT IN SPITE OF WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS MARKET.
