pngFisher Hill of White Plains, NY  is a residential neighborhood located on the  western edge of White Plains, NY, right up against the Scarsdale border.  Heading south, many of the streets merge seamlessly from White Plains into Scarsdale.

This neighborhood consists of a mix of single family, and multi-family housing including coops and two-family homes. Many of the homes are turn-of –the-century rambling Victorians, complete with wrap-around porches although a variety of styles from the pre-war period also grace the neighborhood. Although the homes tend to be large, the lot sizes vary, but are relatively small when compared with the size of the homes.  Some lots are as small as 0.085 acres while others are over 0.3 acres – but 0.3 acres is the exception not the rule.  A typical lot is somewhere between 0.15-0.18 acres. Nevertheless, because the bulk of each property is in the front of most homes, the neighborhood has an atmosphere of openness and space that give it a very suburban feel.  Smaller homes are around 1500 sq.ft. while larger, more stately homes can be in excess of 3000 sq.ft.   In recent years, many older, larger homes in need of some TLC have been renovated and returned to their former glory. png

About 1.5 miles from City Center, it is a close-in neighborhood  with excellent proximity to Metro North.  Depending on the exact location, Fisher Hill residents can walk to the train with the distance ranging from 0.5 miles to a mile or a little more.  Direct bus service is also available from West Post Rd,  creating easy alternatives for residents  who commute.  One can clearly see the towers of the Ritz Carlton from certain vantage points in the neighborhood.  So although the area is distinctly suburban, the city is near at hand. 

Cost of Living:

In the past year, sale prices of single family homes have ranged from roughly $490,000 to $750,000 and have averaged about $287/sq.ft.  This area gives the buyer more bang for their dollar with respect to square footage then many other residential neighborhoods.
