If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.

- Anita Roddick

 mosquito

I collect quotes, they are the basis for my Fridge Friendly (sorry folks, that's copywrited) ad campaign.  The REALLY great ones, ones that I want to ponder for awhile, I typeset, print on vellum, mat and frame and hang on my "thinkin' wall' in my living room.

Quotes like "The blessed soul would, if necessary, give up it's own blessing that another might recieve." -AW Tozer and, of course, "I had three chairs in my house. One for solitude, two for friendship, three for society." -Thoreau, are permanant fixtures on the wall.

So, this morning I was thinking, I don't blog simply to blog...I want to SHARE something of VALUE with those who take the time to read what I have to say.  So, in searching for interesting things to blog about, I have decided to embark on a daily routine to share a quote a day for a little while.

Today's quote...the first in the series...is from Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop, and a profound "Improver of lives" around the world.  Anita's quote struck me as one to share in the Active Rain community because, each of us, as agents, have such a unique opportunity to impact the world in a positive way...like Anita. Instead of building up communities in 3rd world nations, we get to impact POSITIVELY the communities in which we live.  We get to be the 'feet' that build communities.  We are selling HOMES and businesses...the things that house PEOPLE'S LIVES and build people's wealth.  We don't sell widgits, or gears or doo-dads....we don't work in cubicles without contact with the outside world.

We sell the VESSLES that house human beings, leading us to TOUCH REAL LIVES every single day!  What an amazing "IMPACT" we get to have on the world!

So, when you are feeling small, or that what you are doing is invisible...remember Anita, remember the mosquito, and remember that what you do as a REALTOR makes a VERY BIG RIPPLE in the "pond" of your community.

Live good. Be happy. Make an impact.

Mimi, you have wrote on a topic I am in complete congruence with you on. That if you are the force that throws the pebble in the pond it ripples out far from your initial point of impact. It's what I always think of as being a difference maker in the world. How cool is that?
