Mobile Agent VS Smarter Agent... Getting a Cellular Edge

By
Real Estate Agent with McCarthy Real Estate PA# RS294585

I remember when I was first looking for my house and my agent would email me listings. It was almost as if I didn't believe him that those were the only ones for sale and I drove around anyway. Sometimes I would call my agent to find out how much a house was that I drove past, and sometimes I would just call the number on the sign (shame on me).

But I didn't want to bother calling my agent and a lot of times I couldn't get in touch with him right away. I KNOW there's many others out there, like me, who think they are "bothering" their agent. I know better now that I am in the business, but you shouldn't have to know better. No matter how many times I tell my prospects to call me and not the sign, I know I am losing business when some of them do call the sign. There should be a better way.

The concept of having text messages of MLS listings sent to my clients that are driving around looking at homes for sale is very apealing to me. There are two companies that seem to have to solution to this problem. One is Mobile Agent and the other is Smarter Agent. There may be more, but I am not sure who else is out there. In general this concept would seem to me to keep your prospects "loyal" by giving them the tool to find out for themselves right away on their phone sitting in front of the house without calling another agent.

Does anyone know or have a subscription to either of these companies, and if so, how is it working out for you?

Loyalty has nothing to do with technology, it has to do with building and maintaining a connection to your clients.  If you haven't instilled in them the belief that you are the ONLY agent that can help them, then I would spend time and money on that...another gadget won't develop raving fans.  You are the only one who can do that.

Be of service! The rewards will come!

Thanks Matt, and while I believe what you are saying is very true, I don't think it could hurt to add something to your arsenal. I really would like use this too for two reasons: 1. To help to convert prospects into loyal customers, and 2. To be in 2 places at one time. Thanks for commenting!

I've looked at both of these, and I too am struggling.  It seems that Smarter Agent isn't really working yet tho they are signing up cities.  And currently it only works with Sprint and ATT (I think).  Verizon and Altel will hopefully be by the end of the year.  Smarter Agent also requires full browsing.

Mobile Agent (and Cell Signs) works with any text capable phone.  BUT, we've been trying to get our MLS signed up since December.  I know some some (or most) of the delay has been from the MLS, but I know all the paperwork is signed, and I've been begging to get on early.  Not happend yet.

Yech...

Well, let me know how it goes. I have not made a decision yet. I really want to do, but I don't know if it is worth the money yet. Thanks for your comments.

Stacey, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about Smarter Agent.  The great thing about our technology is YOU can provide the technology to your clients, the application on their cell phone brands to you, so regardless of who has the listing on the property they are in front of, the 'Call to See' feature directs the calls back to you.  We will also have text messaging capabilities available in the near future.

Let me know if you want to chat some more.

Thanks Jennifer. I really like the concept. I guess I've come to the conclusion for now that I am not ready to spend money on this type of customer service feature just yet. I doesn't feel like the time to do it, but I still like the idea, so we'll see what the future holds.
