i hate potty trainingI HATE Potty Training.

I'm not sure if there is anything worse when it comes to raising a toddler.

I have done it four times already, and it doesn't get any easier. It has actually gotten harder. I wonder if it is harder because I am older, more tired, less patient, and distracted by other little people running around the house. Maybe. But I truly believe it is because I cannot stand the sound of my daughters voice when she whines.

Yeah, there's more to this one right here!

Hi Rocky...

I read this post on your real blog a few days back. If you don't mind I want to share with you something that happened with my twins when it was time for potty training.

When the twins were 2 I still did not have them potty trained. One of the problems I encountered was the twin speak. They had their own form of comminication which is normal for identical twins. Anyway, after months of trying to figure out why they would only P in the potty I discovered that they had convinced each other that if they sat down they would flushed down. This really was hysterical. They were absolutely positive that their little butts would disappear down that little hole where the water goes down :)

I solved this problem by getting a plastic bowl that was the size of their butt and dropping in the toilet. I then flushed the toilet and to their amazement the plastic bowl didn't go down the little hole :)

Yes. I spoke twin speak for the first 4 years. The three of us finally went to a speech therapist so that we could "all" learn to speak the english language. LOL....

Okay, so now I am hijcaking your Blog. Feel free to delete me. I was telling the story to YOU. Wink. Wink.

P.S. To anyone that reads this story please bear in mind that my twins are now 30 years old :)

Get M&Ms and silky panties.  Reward with M&Ms, but know that the wet silky panties are not pleasant and she will be working out her own solutions.  (I even used them on a boy and it worked)  Supposedly there are some little pull-ups that you can buy which do the same thing, but with less mess for you.  In the old days, for my kids, we didn't have pull-ups.  I haven't tested them.

Try to smile, this too shall pass.   Give her the pull-ups and go shopping for the silkies for yourself.  You need a break.  ;)

I am on my 4th child. She is a terror, Or is she really just like the others, and I have forgot how trying they once were too??

TLW, I agree with the TWIN language. I have twins, they are 10 now, and they did speak in their own code. They felt it necessary to prefer the mop bucket to the toilet. No matter where I hid the mop bucket, they would find it and do their business in there. I thought they were going to Pee in it until the Prom.

Well, I an say now, they are 10, and I have not had to hide the mop bucket in 8 years. Everyone is correct when they say "this wil too will pass.."

I forgot to metion before that I found "A potty for me" by karen Katz was a great tool.  We read it together often and it really seemed to get her excited about the potty.  I just made up the words, because in her version the child keeps trying but doesn't go until the end; but in my version the child goes every time she sits ;)

Oh for the good old days..........TLW your post reminds me of an article I had published in a baby magazine, titled "Potty Training Twin Style".  I had two sets of twins 10+ months apart, and with the boys being older and normally not as interested in getting trained, I tried doing all 4 of them at once!  The boys, being identical, did indeed have their own language, and saw no need to speak to the rest of us.  I think their twin sisters talking alot finally wore them down.

Rocky - I really don't have anything helpful to add except, this too shall pass.

LOL! I hate it too! I am still potty training my 6 year old. He just can't seem to get the aim. Pees all over the place. Urghh...so frustrating. But that's part of being a mommy. LOL!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YA! ;)
