I'm new at this

I'm told this is a great way to get referrals.  I see that there are over a thousand people on-line in Active Rain right now.  That is impressive.  Would someone let me know what is a reasonable amount of time to spend doing this, and what kind of results could one expect?  I spent a whole afternoon yesterday trying to attach an rss URL to my web site for blogging.  Can that be done with this, too?

Some people use the word "addiction" when they talk about the time they spend on AR :-)   The link to the RSS feed for your AR blog is in the beige-y color right hand column under "archives".

And welcome!

Welcome Lorraine! Reasonable time? Hmmmm. Good question.

When I first joined, I spent hours upon hours reading, then decided to start blogging for hours upon hours. Needless to say, I was hooked and overwhelmed. I've gotten back to reality since then! Hah.  Whatever fits best into my schedule is how I work it, but am trying to be more consistent.

The value of this website is unmeasurable IMO. As far as the tech stuff. Do a search and I bet you will find whatever topic you need help on. Tons of talent on this site and tons of wonderful people willing to help.

I've found this to be a great place for information and business. If you stay with it, you will get results.

Hi Lorraine,

I have to admit that I had to smile reading your Blog, as I was unaware of what a blog even was!  I am a Home Stager and a Designer and although I am incredibly gifted when it comes to the art of beautifying homes... this is a whole new ball game!

I have spent countless hours as well.

I wish you all the luck in the world!

Lorraine,
I'm new here too and trying to navigate this network!!  Thanks for asking that question, I'm looking forward to reading the responses you get!
There's a group for AR Newbies... you should check it out, I've found some useful info there.

Lorraine,

Its all a matter of What are your needs?  and how much time you want to spend.  Blogging has become a daily routine for me.  Posting listings, making comments and learning from others.  I have not received a formal referral but have received e-mails requesting information, which will eventually become a future customer.  But the information I read has been very helpful and in most cases resolved some situations for me.  Good Luck

Lorraine: Welcome! This IS a great site. You'll discover that as you blog about the areas in which you operate that you'll begin to receive positive feedback. Your ranking in Google (and other search engines) will rise. You'll also notice that many members will help you along the way. You're off to a good start already!
