Living in Northwest Indiana affords us the opportunity as a family to visit the nearby City of Chicago, IL and take advantage of it's many cultural offerings, especially live Theatre! We usually make the trip around the Holidays, but this year we read about a special Lenten performance that we could not miss! Yes, the return of the stage production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR - Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber's Rock Opera Musical is playing at the Beautiful and Historic Cadillac Palace Theatre this week Only! We enjoyed this timeless classic, depicting the final week of the Life of Christ and saw why the extremely talented singers and dancers recieved rave reviews! The final scene (in the play), marked simply in the PROGRAM John 19:41 ........ was so profound, that there was not a sound in the entire theatre - you could hear a pin drop - the REVERENCE could be felt ! Ted Neeley who did an outstanding performance last night in Chicago, was in the Screen version of the Movie which aired originally in the 1970's. Over 3 decades later, he drew lengthy standing ovations and bravo's for his incredible portrayal of JESUS of NAZARETH. Grace, I went to check the schedule and it's not coming to NY. I am SO disappointed, I would love to see this live! I also have the soundtrack and remember the movie well and just loved both....I'm so sorry it's not coming to Broadway. I'm glad you had a wonderful time!

Hello Carole - I am very shocked it is not including a NY stop - especially since you have so many off Broadway Theatres as well! The Movie pales in comparisson to this live performance now that I've experienced both - perhaps if you are planning a trip somewhere this year in the US it will be ina city you are visiting? I absolutely love this musical. Along with Godspell, it made a veryprofound impact on my life when I was younger. Just reading about it brought chills -- the finale takes my breath away! Ted Neeley is amazing in the film and I would love to see him hit those outrageous high notes live.
