Winters End Gardening in Atlanta

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker

wrAs we all eagerly await spring there are a few things to do in the garden. This is the time of year to prune back your Crepe Myrtle and Butterfly bushes as they grow flowers on "new wood". Remember to sharpen and clean your tools beforehand. Do not however prune Azaleas or Rhododendrons but wait till after they finish blooming.

Now is also a good time to start turning and amending your annual beds and turn your compost pile of leaves.

Blue birds are looking to move back in their nest boxes. The Robins are back in full force and Sandhill Cranes have been seen going back north. All bright promises of spring.

If you do not own a Garden call us, we can help you find one along with a home to go with it.

Nice post for localism, Keith & Robin. I like the pic. Unfortunately for us, we have to wait on the spring chores till end of march - first of April - still 2 feet of snow in the yard!

I love this so much! Your wonderful line about finding a home to go with a garden is too good not to use. May I?

Hi Keith,
I am ready for Spring though our Winter so far has been pretty mild.  No snow not even a flake.  I agree with Jennifer that is a good line.

Keith and Robin:  Great tips.  It's so wonderful to walk out on a cool February morning and hear birds singing already.  They, too are eager for spring.  I always take it as a very good sign when the first bird I see is a blue bird (blue bird of happiness) and one flew right in front of me the other day.  I love the sounds of spring, just take some down time and really listen, there's nothing more theraputic..

Keith & Robin - Great tips on pruning the Crepe Myrtles and I love that line as well.  I have two Crepe Myrtles on either side of my driveway, we will prune them soon.

Candy I love those crepe myrtles but hate the bugs they attract

Keith, great post and thanks for reminding me David has things to do :-)  I'll help....    I was just out in the great city of Hiram for a basketball game (I drove the bus for the students).  You have some beautiful contry and homes out in that area.  It was funny because I went to Hiram one Saturday and David did an inspection for a friend almost that far out the very next week.
