15 Reasons to Sell and Move

15 Reasons to SellEstablishing motivation to sell is the first thing a good real estate agent will do. If you call an agent to list your home and he or she doesn't ask why you are selling, call somebody else -- because it's likely that agent just wants to list your home and not sell it.

Real sellers have solid reasons to sell. Motivation to sell is absolutely essential in a down real estate market. If you have no motivation or want to "test the market," a slow market is not the time to put your home up for sale. In fact, if you're only half thinking about selling, perhaps you should take the time to examine your reasons to see if they make actual sense. Sometimes one half of a couple has different reasons from the other half.

I also want to know as a buyer why someone is moving  and as an agent I inquire for my clients on each  property.

Elizabeth, I definitely want to know the reason for my sellers wanting to move. I do not have the time nor the money to list a property for the sole purpose of getting another listing. I list to SELL.

Hi Elizabeth, here I am again. ;-)  Did I ever tell you? I LOVE lists!!! I even write my list, adding onto my list the things I've done, so I can check them off. Do you think that falls into a type A personality. ;-) Great list..........

See family less often... hilarious... but true.  I have a couple that if they lived closer I would seriously have to consider moving. :)

Hi Carol: That's a good idea to ask because the answer could be "we can't stand the neighbors."

Hi Jill: If sellers don't have a good reason, then we're all wasting our time.

Hi Teri: Yes, there you are again! You make me laugh. I suspect we are very much alike -- very Type A. I love lists, too. In fact, I spend so much time on lists that my brain is beginning to think in terms of bullet points.

Hi Jesse & Kathy: I'm with you on that one. I enjoy my family a lot, from a distance. If we lived closer, it's likely the sparkle would fade.

Elizabeth, motivation is critical. Frankly, if someone isn't motivated, they really shouldn't be tallying in the market right now!
