Did you guess 52? 77% of Americans guess 52. Did You know 80 % of statistics are made up? Funny.

The 50 states are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Here's a reason behind why people think there's 52 states...because there is 52 weeks in a year and 52 cards in a deck. See it just makes since that we should have 52 states! LOL I think I was 18 years old when I figured it out - only 50 states!

I was taught by my 6th grade teacher that there were 52 states. She got into a debate with one "know it all" student who argued that there were only 50. The student was right of course and we then knew the teacher had taught us wrong. She was fresh out of college and 22. I now teach my children that teachers are human and not always right so to always check their sources to make sure their first source is not wrong.

By the way...I used to work at Oak Ridge Tool and Engineering in Oak Ridge Tennessee. I assume they are still there.

Really? People guess 52 77% of the time? Didn't anyone learn the "Fifty Nifty United States" song in Elementary school? Should be required unless that was one of the 80% of made-up statistics?

I have to say, I'm amazed by this. It has only been recently that I've heard that some people believe there are 50 states. (Yes, Bob Force, 50 states. <b>Your</b> information was wrong. Not Anona's. There are <b>FOUR</b> commonwealth states, not two, and being a commonwealth is not mutually exclusive of being a state, so there are 50 states.)

I really have no idea where 52 comes from. If one counted Federal Districts, there would be 51. If one counted Territories, there would be 55. Where does 52 come from? A deck of cards?

i just had this arguement with a bunch of my friends and my lil sis who knows everything and they all said 51 or 52 WE HAVE 50 STARS ON OUR FLAG ONE FOR EVERY STATE does anyone know anything about our country ppl need to stop taking things for granted and realize what we do have instead of what we dont or r losing diff now days!!!!!!!!!!!!
