An observation - Why I love the real estate profession

By
Real Estate Agent with Shorewest Realtors

Over the weekend I was thinking ...

Why I love being a real estate professional.

Every person, every transaction, every showing, every house, every inspection ... is different. As realtors, we never do the same thing twice. It is like snowflakes - each one unique.

Many professions are repetitive. Even in my previous sales experience I sold the same product over and over again. It is totally different in real estate, requiring thinking on your feet and quickly formulating a response based on the situation. We need to quickly assess buyers motivations and use our knowledge of the current local market to respond with just enough information to pique their interest and draw them to us, so that we can share more of our knowledge when they make the decision to work with us. An incorrect response sends them away without the ability to recapture their interest.

For me, this is great because every interaction gets the adreniline pumping and puts me in "the zone" where I am anxious, excited and do my best thinking "under pressure". It may be self-induced, but it works for me. If, at some time in the future, it becomes different for me - it will be time to change professions. But for now, I love the thrill of being a real estate professional.

Just an observation and an opinion. What do you think? Why do you like your job?

Scott,

Having a passion for the sale is a beautiful thing, there are few of us out there that can see and watch the sale take it's place from the first meeting till the closing, simply put it's a beautiful thing.
