Every see the little black fish in the bottom of the aquarium eating the scum off of the bottom of the tank. Hummmmm. Well just remember these people are typical Michael Vick. If they can get away with it they will break the rules. They know the rules but prey on the public that is not aware. I am going to go through a short script to help you help your customers. A is the customer and B will is the collection agency.
Ring: A: Hello......B: Can I speak to Tim.....A: Can I ask who is calling?.....B: Is this Tim?......A: Again can I ask who is calling?....B: I need to speak to Tim about a personal matter....A: If you leave a message I can assure you it will get to him......B: Is this Tim...... A: Would you like to leave Tim a message or not?
Never give any information out to these people. Just tell them that they can leave a message. Also you can stop the calls. You can send a letter to the collection company telling them that they can only contact you by mail. This is completely legal. Be sure you send the letter certified and return receipt requested. If the do not comply you can report them to the FTC and the Attorney General for violations.
