Comments For Points?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams 01519870

I don't know about all of you, I like to comment on others blogs. Not for points (of course that is a plus), Rather Because I enjoyed their blog, or learned something new, or simply liked the catchy title. I comment even if I reached my 10 for the day. I like the idea of networking, it helps us learn for more seasoned pros and we can help newbies, or others who may not have experienced something we have in the past. That is why I comment on blogs why do you comment? Is it just for points, or is it for the Great information from those other pros out there.  I have been doing this for a really short time (blogging) Writing and commenting on blogs are of great benefit. Please do not miss the point. Bye for now and happy blogging!

I find that I typically comment in two situations:

  1. When the blog is useful to me in my professional or personal life.
  2. When I enjoy a blog and I want to encourage the writer to write more often.

I fully recognize that this comment doesn't really fall into either category, but for the sake of argument we will claim #2.

I comment if I find something I want to comment on - sometimes I reach 10, sometimes under, sometimes over! Happy blogging to you too!

I also comment when something grabs me. It's an easy way to break the ice when you're new and worried about writing a whole blog. Of course the fact that I'm just s few points from jumping up a rank in my area is a plus - and if you stop by and comment on some of my blogs that'll help too. (Shameless plug)

I hate to admit this, but it seems that I have already become addicted to this..(Thanks Lissa Uder! Like I needed another computer addiction!)  I try to leave a lil Ray of Sunshine on every Blog that I read; however, it seems that there are few that I just cannot bring myself to type the words.  Many people do not realize how stressful the world of Real Estate is, regardless of the Profession (Realtor/ Lender/ Broker/ Closing Agent/etc.... ) Some of the topics I am reading for informational purposes only, and if I do not know enough about the Blog topic to comment, than I do not pretend that I do... and comment.  I have learned a lot of different things about the Wonderful World of Real Estate since joining AR, and am looking forward to broadening my knowledge and meeting many wonderful new people!!!

Have a Wonderful Evening!!

I comment on at least 10 per day.  Most of the time I read 30-40 blogs to get my 10 comments.  I will comment on more a lot of days and get just my minimum (10) other days.  I do want the points and have commented for the points (usually close to midnight).  But, it doesn't mean the comment is any less guinine I just find I am reading and commenting on stuff I may not normally read.  Thus, expanding my reading assortment.  As you can see I just received another 25 points.  I got the points for answering an honest question.   Does that make the comment less worthy.

I am a "newbie" and am just getting the hang of blogging and commenting.  I am here to network, and feel that in order to do that, I must blog and comment and get to know other people on ActiveRain.  I comment only on blogs that I find Interesting, funny or informative.  I appreciate comments on my blogs, because I can learn a lot from other agents, especially the more experienced agents.

I guess at the very least I like to see people on here at all, points or not. I am pretty sure that those who comment for points right now will eventually get hooked and start commenting or they will stop coming.

Hi Mary, I have to be honest and say that there are times i comment strictly for points. I'd say 25% of the time. However, mostly I will comment on a subject I believe warrants my time. This is one such blog. :-)

Hi Mary - I really enjoy reading many of the posts that are out there.  I find myself commenting on ones that are helpful to me, are of interest to me, or are about a topic to which I feel I can add.  I know that I probably read 3 times as many posts as comments I make, so I would like to believe that I am doing the right thing.  However, I have to say, that the points system is a great idea.  For someone like myself who, at 33, is still playing video games and trying to beat my previous high scores, AR serves the dual purpose of being a great resource for information and networking, while still feeding my competitive edge.

Mary - I try to read as many articles in my groups as I can each day (I linked here from the "Learn to be a Top Producing Listing Agent) and comment if I have something positive to say - even if its just to let the author know that I read their post and appreciate them taking the time to share their thoughts.

Best Wishes,

Kelsie
