The market has many options to offer a potential buyer now and there are plenty of programs to assist in your purchase:

Grants are available from the the City of Chicago
High loan-to-value programs are STILL available for qualified purchasers
Developers are anxious to move product - some offer mortgage and assessment assistance

Welcome to ActiveRain, Deborah! This post is a good reminder to condo buyers that there are other monthly payments besides the mortgage. In addition to knowing the assessment amount, I would also take into consideration the condition of the amenities.
