Funny emails, but not really

By

More bogus emails are floating around again. IF you have been selected to win a prize, foreign lottery, rebates, etc, unless you specifically signed up online for that very thing, its a scam. This one is a new twist:

Dear Customer,

You've been selected to take part in our quick and easy survey In return, Microsoft Corporation we will credit $80 to your account - Just for your time!

Please spare two minutes of your time and take part in our online survey so we can improve our products. Don't miss this chance to change something.

The email address has been spoofed to read as coming from Microsoft. I don't think this roofing company has thought out the kind of reputation they are going to get by tricking people to visit their site. In their defense, I'm sure they were sold this "service", since I doubt the employees had the skill to spoof the address.

This one just came in. Another scammer tactic, the url looks legit, but they use third level domains to make it seem like its from Citibank.  Of course, I don't bank there, but they are the third largest bank in the US so the scammers are playing the odds. I've forwarded a copy to their anti-phising dept. NEVER CLICK THE LINKS and ALWAYS DELETE these!-Charles

Jacqulyn, although Microsoft may be able to afford doing this, it is still a scam. Spoofing the Microsoft email address is a dead give away. I'm sure the survey asked a lot of good questions so they could steal your identify.  I don't know if Microsoft is following up on these, but you could forward it to them. They may want to go after these guys.

Thanks for reminding us that this can be serious, if someone were to fall for this scam.

Good Post!
