On March 29, 2008 from 8:00PM - 9:00PM Atlanta is one of the cities participating in a world wide event ina symbolic effort to combatglobal warming.
Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, it is called "Earth Hour 2008".
People and businessees are encouraged to turn off all nonessential lights for this hour. Georgia Power plans to measure the drop in electricity usage.
Let's see if we cn help with the light pollution and sit in the dark for an hour.
While we are talking about turning out the lights, have you changed any of your old light bulbs to compact fluorescent? If every household in the US replaced three 60 watt incandescent bulbs with CFL's, the reduction would be the same as taking 3.5 million cars off the road.
That seems easy enough to do. Did we mention it also saves you money - about $7.00 per bulb per year on your electric bill!
