Zero Tolerance Policy

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Dyson's Mobile Notary Service

I am appealing to  ActiveRain professionals to band together. I have performed closings for a couple of signing services who have taken several months to pay or not pay for my service at all. I have contacted the title/escrow company and have confirmed the signing service was paid.

The topic of non-payment is a popular discussion across many professional forums. Real Estate Agents, Loan Officers and Title/Escrow Officers can assist by implementing a zero tolerance policy. If you are contacted by the Notary or any other vendor regarding valid non-payment issues, refuse to continue doing business with the signing service.  Include your zero tolerance policy in your contract with the signing service or vendor. This measure sounds drastic but the middle man should be held accountable.

I am also appealing to ActiveRain professionals to value the service of each other.  Since I am a Notary, I would like to recommend that you refer to the priceless information Leon Austin, LaShon James-Major and Needanotary provides almost on a daily basis on ActiveRain regarding the notary profession.

I would like reccomend that a complaint should be filed with BBB and with their local judicials.  I recently filed a complaint with BBB and found out that the company had went out business.  The BBB provided the Bankrupcty Court contact information.  There have been some cases where notaries have banded together to file clss action suits nationally against offenders.  You can work with a collection agency as well.

Notaries need to wake up!  STOP accepting work form any company the won't allow you to place an invoice into escrow.  Just STOP, no excuses!!!  When every you think it won't be you, you're fooling yourself.  Aren't you worth being paid in a timely manner for your skill, talent and efforts.  Wear your business hat and stop looking for something for nothing.

We often have notaries to ask for FREE memberships to our sites (remind you: we only charge $24.95 annually and are one of the top searched notary sites on the Internet) where clients allow you set your own price, but they eagerly go to work for signing companies that offer them $40 for a loan signing and take 90 days to pay them.  $30 paid on the spot for a single document (including local travel) is much better than even $50 for a complete set of loan documents and worry if you will be paid  or when.  I've heard notaries say, "$25 is acceptable for printing a lender and borrower set of loan documents".  It cost at least $25 in ink and we haven't even considered the time factor.

Being penny-wise  and pound-foolish is not the way to operate a profitable business. In order for change to happen, notaries need to act in unison.  Then you have sites like notarybids.com that encourage notaries to bid against themselves and see no problem with that business strategy.  Wake up my fellow notaries.

Notaries are some of the nicest and most compassionate people I've ever meet and deserve better.
