Referral?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Central Delaware

There was a Realtor that recently had a transaction with a client that had went around to several different Realtors until they found the one that they wanted.  I know this is typical but here is the unconventional part.  The client went to a Realtor that was friends with one of the Realtors that they had used.

The one agent was upset that the other agent did not notify them about the client switching over to them because they felt since they were friends and the other Realtor gave their friend the go ahead to use the person but was upset when they actually used the person.

In the explosion that took place afterwards the Realtor that was essentially released from duty demanded a referral.  The question is:  Does this agent warrant a referral?

If I understand this merry go round of realtors....in a word,  NO.  You get a referral fee when you refer, not when a customer likes one realtor better than another.

Absolutely not.

We get paid for selling real estate, not showing real estate.

That agent that expected a referral fee clearly didn't do the job or he/she would have had the full commission.

WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE????????

The agent that referred the client should have filled out and signed a referral agreement with the other agent.  Otherwise, you are just leaving the door open for this kind of thing to happen.

I agree with Lenn...absolutely not..... a referral on a buyer?????

If the buyer WAS in a SGINED buyers rep. agreement and locked in for 6 months, MAYBE....

BUT just ging to ANOTHER agent to get service thast this agent was not giving... NO WAY...

Getting relaesed by the broker was icing on the cake in this situation IMHO...

That agent was WAY too pushy....
