Taking Life for Granted -- Paying it Forward in helping an AR members friend...

Mortgage and Lending with Social Media - Infinity Home Mortgage Company, Inc

paying it forward

I have always been one to give the shirt off my back when someone is in need. Times have been rough though for so many in the last year. those of us in the real estate industry and even for those outside of it.

In the last several months, Jason Crouch has been sharing a heart felt story with many of us about a good friend of his who is going through a very tough time.

We have seen some great things come from this community, Active Rain. It's great when we can get together in different parts of the US, to finally meet. Finally putting a real face to the pictures that we see or the voices that we heard. What couldn't be better than to take it one step further and actually help not each other, but a possible friend in need.

David & Jan

(left - David & his wife Jan, prior to his cancer)

Jason's friend, David, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in the middle of 2007 and battled through it, now faces another challenge. He is now diagnosed with a tumor in his throat. Not only did they remove this tumor just recently, but they had to remove his tongue.

David Wilder

Can you imagine, able to eat easily and talk easily all your life. David now needs to start all over again, learning sign language and how to read lips.  Yes, he has his health and family, but it gets worse.

David's been out of work for sometime, because of the tests, the chemo, and the surgery's.  They now don't have health insurance. So you could imagine the costs that are piling up.

For many of you that aren't members, you won't be able to follow many of the links that share this special story. But I wanted to keep this open to everyone that not only follows my blogs, but those that might stumble across this particular blog.

As mentioned here and in some other posts, times are tight for so many. Donations are always appreciated. But just thoughts and prayers can never have a dollar amount associated to someones unsteady health. And if you can't send money, at least sending a card with thoughts & prayers would bring joy, smiles, and comfort to David and his wife Jan.

I also want to contribute something, especially since this community is so caring and giving at times. And because I have had many clients of mine over the years who have given of themselves and taken the time to show their appreciation of my services by sending cards and e-mails, I wanted to give back. For every loan that I close from now and until the end of 2008, I am going to donate $100 to David & his wife Jan, hoping that it will help some.

For those that can send a donation or a card, please send to :

Jason Crouch, 20001 Fargo Terrace, Pflugerville, TX  78660

Please make any checks or money orders payable to Jan Wilder.

If you would prefer to send money to them via PayPal, their account is set up under the following email address: jwilder_99@yahoo.com (there is an underscore between "jwilder" and "99").

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jason Crouch on his cell phone at 512-796-7653 or email him at jason@austintexashomes.com

And for those that know me or are a client of mine, you can send the donations or the cards to :

Infinity Home Mortgage Company    1934 Olney Ave.  Ste 100   Cherry Hill, NJ  08003   Attn :  Jeff Belonger

As mentioned above, anything would help. Even words of encouragement from a stranger. Thanks for your time.

Jeff Belonger

Jeff - It's wonderful that you have re-posted this alert to keep it in the forefront.  I have already made my donation to David and Jan, but I can tell you that if I win in Vegas next week they will get a second card from me.

This just serves to remind all of us that when we think we have it bad, someone else has it worse.

Thanks again.

Jeff, I am glad you put this out there.  I had just read and re-read Jason's post, then opened yours and saw all this.  Carol's comment above about the reminder that "when we think we have it bad, someone else has it worse" is right on.  I thank God constantly for all the good people in the world, and I pray that they find ways to bless David and Jan in this most excruciating time.  I am grateful to you for giving us the info we need to help.  You're awesome, Jeff!

Jeff, you certainly have my prayers for David and Jackie! And, for the pain it causes Jason. I know you are all good "feeling" people and I pray that David will continue to live a healthy long life. There is just no explanation as to why this happens to certain people and not to others.

It's really not our place to try to understand but we can give in many ways. I hope the little I have been able to donate helps and my prayers are from my heart.

It's like this makes me think about the possibility of Socialized medicine but I am just not feeling good about that either.

If you need anything else we are all here to help. After the effort Jason, Melissa and yourself have put into this cause....they must know how much we all care.

Thank you, Jeff. Later in the rain~Deb

Hey Jeff - I got your email, and I am so glad that you sent that to me, since I had mis-read your post previously.  I somehow missed the fact that you are donating $100 PER DEAL for the remainder of the year.  This is an absolutely phenomenal commitment, and I am incredibly thankful to you for stepping up the the plate.  I read this post previously, but I thought you were sending $100 one time only.  Sorry for the mistake.  I wrote a post yesterday about visiting David last Thursday if you are interested in taking a look at it.  I will warn you that it was very hard for me to write, so it is likely hard to read as well.
