Blooming on the Island

FMB Delmar blooming in Jan When we lived in Massachusetts in the 90's we used to take off in the winter to the Florida Keys.Since then we moved to Florida. Even if you don't have a green thumb, it seems that everything grows anyway.

This is a street next to were we live now. I used a Canon Power Shot digital 7.0 mega pixel. You may go manual or auto, like most digital cameras, but the quality of the pictures are definitely better in a larger size. I used to really enjoy my old Olympus OMG as you could focus on one part of the screen and then the rest be could be blurry which was interesting. Of course the old Olympus could be auto if you wanted. Sometimes by the time I figured out the speed and opening, the light would change and I would loose a shot. Sometimes one would get lucky.

As realtors we try as much as we can not to have any cars or people on the shot. This was lazy afternoon during the week end and for 10 mn nobady passed by. This street is located in Fort Myers Beach FL.

I suppose that some of the warmest lights are when the sun is slanted late afternoon. We all have our favorite time of day for shots. This picture tells me why many are living in Florida. It does not need any explanation.

I am from Jamaica so I know what you are talking about.  I really love plants and in the spring in the Northeast I get busy, I want to see color right down to the first frost.

I am also thankful for digital cameras, with the manual every shot I took was slanted, now I point and shoot and I can actually get a good shot.

I wonder Jennifer if you have dabbled in stitching? Kind of interesting specially for panoramic pictures. It is true that digital cameras have given us more quality point and shoot pictures, but I am finding out reading this exasperating 100 pages reference book for my digital camera that there is also the possibility to shoot the old fashioned way, black and white, portrait, night shots et...  and more. With opening of lens, speed et....enough to mess up your whole pictures!!Once in a while I'll try the digital manual and its mind boggling! That is why I am an amateur, but I love it. I can see you have that passion, and your passion is not slanted anymore.
