Any there ANY Nurses here??? I am counting us all....

Real Estate Agent with Maverick Realty

Hello!  I am Vickie McCartney, Realtor,R.N.  Yes, I am a Real Estate Broker as well as a Registered Nurse.  I was just wondering how many Realtor's, Real Estate Agents,or Real Estate Professionals with a nursing background are out there or here in the rain?  It would be interesting to see how many of us there are. Comment me right now if you are a nurse or ever have been a nurse. (once a nurse always a nurse)

What would make someone switch (or even do both) to real estate?  Could it have something to do with the fact that nurses, just like real estate professionals, enjoy taking care of people? Could it be that we may have a natural inclination to want to meet and exceed a client's needs?

I know myself that while in nursing, I pursued the medical sales and marketing avenue which also caused me to develop good negotiation skills.  I have also learned to hone in and develop good listening skills.  I try to let my clients do most of the talking and therefore I really learn a lot about their specific needs.  I have had a couple tell me again recently that Realtors need to have really sharp listening skills, and that they were so glad I had that capability.

As a Realtor with a background in Nursing, I find that I first like to do an overall assessment of my clients needs.  No two clients are the same.  Each and every one has their own unique wants and needs.  I do this gathering of information by allowing my clients do almost all of the talking with myself asking open-ended questions.

The next thing I do for a client is develop a plan specific for the client and then put their specific plan in to action.  Once their specific plan is implemented, I then have to re-evaluate the plan and adjust it according to the outcomes we have achieved.  We have to constantly evaluate their outcomes and re-evaluate until we reach their specific goals.  We are simply looking for the right home, in the right place, at the right price, and at the right time.

I am happy to report that my nursing background entails me to provide my clients the utmost of care.  We both benefit from that.  The real benefit comes though when together we actually find the right home, at the right place, at the right time, and at the right price!  Then, we truly are all winners!

Vickie, I am a Realtor Nut also. My first career was a Pediatric Head Nurse. My former patients and now their children are using me to buy and sell homes

I use as much, no maybe more, psychiatry in real estate than in nursing. Part of my listing presentation is a counseling session and I find that I need to repeat and reinforce this counseling throughout the transaction. Dealing with the stress can be overwhelming for many sellers.

I have also discovered that there are NO true emergencies in real estate. Our nursing backgrounds have prepared us well for this rewarding career.
