OK tomorrow is Groundhogs Day... or is it Ground Hogs Day? I remember this spelling question from last year... I think my 2006 story says "Ground Hog" and I went with "Groundhog " in 2007. What's a blogger to do? Maybe the new Active Rain spell checker will help with that dilemma.
Active Rain will accept both which leads me to believe it should be spelled groundhog.
Lisa Dunn and Fred Pickard have both covered Groundhogs Day on Active Rain....
Fred's right there in PA with the best known groundhog and Lisa tied it into real estate. Is our spring season going to start?
This is my second February as a blogger and I am an older and wiser blogger having covered the Groundhogs Day story a year ago. What I learned:
- Groundhogs like real estate is local.... are local? Find your local groundhog *
- Look at the calendar... well maybe as a grumpy old blogger I should not spell it out for those of you that still have hope... let's just wait and see what happens tomorrow...
Our local Ohio groundhog is named Buckeye Chuck. I know we've barely had a winter this year but please, please Chuck don't see your shadow tomorrow.... for Central Ohio, Chuck in Marion Ohio is our official weather rodent.
I blogged about Groundhogs Day 2007 on my Discover Columbus Blog today and I admit I'm a grump when it comes to groundhogs this year.
My 2006 foray into local citizen journalism on the weather rodent prognosticating level:
Groundhogs Day 2006 - Ohio the hope.
Groundhogs Day 2006 - The truth
Do you have a local groundhog on the official list? Do you rely on Phil in PA ? I'm not going to try to spell that city name... Or are you in one of those areas which has an alternate animal that forecasts whether your local weather will be winter or spring?
