Have you read Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth" Awakening to your life's purpose.

I have just read Eckhart Tolle's latest book on Awakening to your life's purpose and I loved it!! It is a must read for anyone especially if you are wondering why you are here? What is your purpose in life?

I love anything to do with learning to be a better me and this book has it all. It is so inspiring that Oprah has deemed it to be one of her Oprah bookclub selections and has started an online class with the author to help you to 'Awaken' to your own purpose.

It is a bit deep and takes some time getting through it. I gobbled it up and now have to re-read because I'm sure I missed many things. That is the reason that Oprah decided to have an online class in the first place. I tuned in this past Monday night along with 499,999 other people from around the world.

I can't explain what the book entails in a blog post....it's just too deep. But you really should read it! If you loved "The Secret" you will absolutely be tingling with excitment when you turn the pages of this one.

One of the many fantastic quotes in the book is "Humanity is now faced with a stark choice: Evolve or die. ... If the structures of the human mind remain unchanged, we will always end up re-creating the same world, the same evils, the same dysfunction"

There are references to Jesus, Budha, Tao Te Ching, as well as many others.

Happy Reading!

Great book!

His Power of Now is also a great read if you are interested in getting the most out of the present.

I'm reading it now.  The first chapter was terrible, I didn't understand a word, but I kept going until I found the bits I could understand.  Then, suddenly, the "shift" happened, and I can honestly say my life hasn't been the same since.

Heartily recommend it for all.

Kathy - Yes. I think the class is awesome. Plus it makes me make time to go through the next chapter for the next class.

Beth - The good thing is that even if you missed the live webcast, you can log on to Oprah.com anytime and download it.

Brian - your comments made me laugh harder than almost any other blog/comments on here. I think you should go with your partner to Oprah and tell her what she did from the audience. Maybe she will give you a car ha! Kym

I am well into the book and loving it. I was resistant at first, because I hate to be involved in doing something that "everyone is doing because Oprah says so"   ....but eventually I jumped on board because now that my our nest is empty, I'm into spirituality, and positive attraction and energy (taking my level 1 Reiki next month)

I must say it takes some determination to "get into" the book, but the farther you go, the more sense it makes and then you have to reread it again!

Nancy: I agree with you about jumping on the Oprah bandwagon. I was intrigued with the book when I heard what it was about and have loved participating in the live webcasts. Very interesting book!

Okay Kathy,

I'm going to give it a try. The fact that he has summary paragraphs gives me hope. I just wish he'd get rid of that wimpy little goatee.

Thanks for your post Kathy!

For people having trouble "getting it" - One of the things that came up several times during the Webcast was that you could really only get the message when the time is right for you - when you're ready. I remember reading the Power of Now some time back. I thought, "What?" I put it aside for months - maybe a year - and then picked it up one night. It made perfect sense!

If you are having trouble getting through the book, it might help to go to the recorded Webcasts. I enjoyed hearing the questions and comments from people from around the world. There was one teenage girl who called in who - no kidding - seemed to have the understanding of a 50 year old. Not where my kid is right now!

Hi Robin: yes you are right, the webcast is really helpful. I saw that teenager too....very wise. My son who is 17 is reading it and seems to 'get it'

I just reposted this blog. I hope that was ok. I'm so happy that Shell started this new group. I loved the book and have almost finished the Oprah webinars. She is doing summer school...with Eckhart Tolle....can't wait to sign up.

I read the book, several times.  Heather, it gets easier to understand. :)  You actually 'catch' something new every time you read it (stuff you miss the first, second time around).   I loved listening to Tolle.  I could listen to him forever.
I caught some of the Oprah/Tolle webcasts ... they were great.

I haven't read the Power of Now, but if it's anything like "A New Earth", it's well worth reading.

And Brian, I think you should write to Oprah and ask her to apologize ... and I bet she would too. :)
