Going Green in Maine
Alternative Energy and green features are jumping up on the lists of peoples' buying desires for real estate! I have had many people ask me about the greening of real estate. The main stream media has even been covering it- My website has an article from a national publication about Off the Grid homes becoming popular -www.mikemorgenstern.com, in the Off the Grid section. This month's Fine Homebuilding is featuring an article about what it means to be a green home. As someone who markets and sells real estate, I know that there is value in green- green homes that is. I believe that this is just the beginning of a trend that will see more homes built and remodeled with green components and design. These homes will be sold in a higher market than comparable properties that are not green. Why? A big reason comes down to the health and enjoyment of living in a green home. The cost of operating many green homes is substatially lower than traditional houses, so more money is available for a mortgage. Perhaps the best attribute of green is the buzz itself, and the spirit behind it that has more people choosing green real estate. Market factors of supply and demand will help push this boom of green along, my guess is a long long way.
